Import event

How do I import an entire event from a version previous to 10.1.4? I tried closing the program and putting the event in my current library using Finder. Then when reopening FCPX (10.1.4) the event didn't show up. I'm not sure what version of FCPX the said event is from but I need to open it and re-edit it.

Events and projects aren't imported; they are updated. The event needs to be in a folder called Final Curt Events. If it is on your start-up disk, it should be in your home folder's movie folder. On a non start-up disk, the folder needs to be at the root level.

The updating is done from within the Final Cut Pro UI.

I tried updating it, that didn't work. It may have been updated before. We have too many projects to keep them all on the computer. So when I finish one I move it to an external drive just in case something like this comes up, where I need to update the video. (Removing it from FC) I've tried to move it back into the FC 'bundle' in the Finder, but that doesn't work either.

if you're updating an external drive (you update volumes not events). The event folder must be indude a folder called Final Cut Events that is at the root level of the drive. That's the only way FCP will see it.

Moving something into an FCP library bundle in the Finder is a good way to get it corrupted. Be really careful in there.

If you need to re-edit, you'll need update both the project and the event.

If you have previously updated, see if you have folders named Old Final Cut Projects and Old Final Cut Events When you update, you are asked whether you want to delete the projects and events or save them. If you saved them they should be in those folders. Let us know…
