Full Battery is 2 Hours MacBook Air 2014

Bough my Macbook air in August of 2014; battery life has been running fine and haven't had overheating problems. Recently (March 2015), after updating my MacBook air to OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 operating system, it has been overheating constantly on the left side of the notebook and at a full charge, the battery only lasts 2.5 hours max. Is this a seriously problem that I should contact someone at Apple, make an appointment with a genius about, or just drain the battery and recharge it the full battery and hope for the best? Thank you.

Have a 2014 (May) MBA with OS X 10.10.2. Get 12 hours on it with 22 - 25% remaining. This includes hourly USB3 Time Machine backups.

If Stedman1's link isn't enough, consider setting up an appointment with an Apple Store (you are still within your 12 mo warranty, more if Apple Care). You may also have a hardware issue.

You haven't said what you are doing on your machine when you get the heat problem? What do the Energy, CPU, and Memory tabs report in Activity Monitor?
