Just installed my new iMac with Yosemite and my existing Epson WF-2540 printer. While I can print, I can't scan. The error message I get is that the scanner is not connected with the computer. When I go through the Epson application for set up, it says the computer does.t recognize the printer, even though I can print.

Open the Mac App Store and check for any updates. If there are available updates for your Epson they will load. If you use Canon's app to scan that may be your problem. Try using Image Capture, it's already on your computer!!! If you have never used Image Capture here is a link to Apple's site Mac Basics: Using a scanner - Apple Support. Finally if Image Capture cannot locate your scanner then you may need to get an app such as VueScan. You can locate that app by Googling it.
