Which is faster: 3.1ghz dual core i7 or 2.2 quad core i7?

Hey guys, im looking into a new macbook pro and considering either a 13" with the 3.1ghz dual core i7 which turbo boosts to 3.4ghz, or the 15" with 2.2ghz quad core i7 with turbo boost to 3.4ghz. Is the standard ghz what matters more or are they pretty similar since they both turbo boost up to 3.4ghz? its confusing me. (consider that i will be using this for light video editing on the go)

Thanks a lot in advance for the help!

The Quad core CPU has twice the performance of the Dual core CPU.

An Intel Dual core i5/i7 CPU will geekbench score about 6800

An Intel Quad core i5 or i7 CPU will geekbench score over 12000

Your best value macbook pro is the base model 15-inch with Quad core CPU and 16gb ram

128gb SSD is more than enough for most people if you are just going to use the basic app with iwork.

265gb SSD is better

512gb SSD if you plan on using boot camp and dual boot OSX / MS-Windows

1tb SSD if you plan on storing allot of files like music and videos.

I recommend a Quad core CPU as my 2012 MBP with dual core i5 CPU is beginning to show its age and lose it performance.

I have a 512gb SSD with boot camp installed Dual boot OSX Sierra / MS Windows-10 loaded with many , many, many apps. Just about all of them and I am only using about half the SSD Space.

I don't have any music or videos however.

If I want to store Music or Videos I would use a USB flash drive that way I will never lose my files if the MBP should fail.

I have a 1.8 Ghz Quad-core Hp Notebook. And i could pick between this or a 2.3Ghz Dual-core notebook. Now being a pc gamer i know this type of stuff. each core is clocked at that type of speed. so the 3.4 Ghz dual core would be 6.8 Ghz when used together. the 2.2 Ghz quad core would be 8.8 Ghz when used together. So if you edit on mac or even game for some reason on it. The 15" is definitely the choice. but you sacrificing portability. if you want portability take the 13" model while sacrificing power. I much prefer the 15" while it is possible to carry around town, I much prefer power over portability.

The 15" is a Quad-core while the 13" is a Dual-core. That makes the 15" twice as fast at the same clock speed. Given that the 15" has a clock speed of 2.2 GHz versus 3.1 GHz for the 13", that will make the 15" about 43% faster (1.43 times.) If you are doing light video editing on the go, then you need not worry about Turbo-Boost.
