Next track doesn't work

When I select a song for play, the last track, pause, and next track buttons become clickable. When I click next track, the song stops and the next/last buttons fade out. I never had any problems before and I'm not sure if this started since I updated to the newest iTunes or not. I've tried re-downloading the newest iTunes and repairing, but that didn't work. I'm forced to use Windows Media Player until I figure out why iTunes is being stupid.

I'm not sure its a itunes 7.0 problem. I only see the problem with it not moving to the next track when listening to audio books I imported from cd's and only on the 2nd gen nano. I have 2 other ipods, both are mini's and they still work fine.
I get to the end of the track on an audio book (one track per cd as I joined all the tracks for a single cd) and on the mini, it smoothly moves to the next track. Not so on the nano. On the nano, it goes back to the main menu and I have to select from the top again to get to the next track. I don't have a 1st gen nano to test with but both mini's work fine, its only the nano with the problem. Same books from the same computer (XP) work on the mini but not on the nano.
I'm going to try putting each book in its own playlist to see if that helps.
