I created a slideshow with the intro text slide containing a font I wanted it to show up in QT movie made from that slideshow. However after export was completed I noticed that it set its own font. Is it possible to export slideshow with your own preselected font or it is not?

What version of iPhoto and system are you using? Also what slideshow theme did you use?
The version is in the headline of the thread, i.e, iPhoto 9.4.3. The theme I was using was "Places (or Globe?)" (not to be confused with a function in iPhoto).
Unfortunately I can't test iPhoto 9.4.3 since I'm running Yosemite. However, with iPhoto 9.6.1 the selected font remains in the exported slideshow.
As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos, create a slideshow with the same theme and font and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

What exactly files and folders should I back-up? Are these iPhoto Library and iLifeSlideshows in Pictures folder?
The iPhoto library - by default it is in your pictures folder

So, Larry and Toad, have just done all the staff: created a new library, a slideshow, a QT movie - the problem still remains. The font I chose didn't show up in the movie. It's a bug. Too bad it won't get the fix.

If you pick a different font for the title do you still get the font substitution when you export the slideshow?
One more test. Log into another user account on your Mac, create a test library and slideshow and test to see if the problem persists. Does it?
Unfortunately, it persists. Logged into as guest.
Then it's system wide. If you have access to another Mac with the same system and iPhoto versions test there to see if it's inherent in the application, system or both.
I noticed an interesting thing: I created another slideshow with the intro text slide containing a text composed in a Roman alphabet for which I used a font I desired. The export was able to deliver the font successfully. This lets me to wonder whether it has some issues with Cyrillic fonts?
