You need a windows expert if you can't find your way around your computer, I unfortunately am not the one for that.

I'm not in front of a Windows 8 machine right now but I can add some illustrative screenshots to the procedure described in my previous response.

I should have asked ... are your old and new computers running Windows 8, or is the older one using an earlier edition of Windows?

Full details on the "right" way to do this ... if your reaction is "AAARRGGHHH" I'd suggest seeking the assistance of a friend / family member / co-worker ...

STEPS 1 AND 2 ARE ON YOUR OLD COMPUTER -  posting in two parts as the number of images/post is limited ...

    1. Using iTunes on the old computer, consolidate your library so that all your media is contained within the standard iTunes folders - by default, these are at C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media
      • In iTunes, make sure the menu bar is visible - if not, press Ctrl-B to enable it
      • Select Edit > Preferences and then click on the Advanced tab - you should see this:
        XP advanced prefs.jpg
        (1) is the location of your media folder - your Windows username will appear where the text is blanked out above
        (2) - both these options should be checked - if you get a prompt asking if you want iTunes to organize your files now, click No.
      • Click OK to close the preferences window
      • Now select File > Library > Organize Library...:
        XP organize 1.jpg
        When you get this prompt:
        XP Organize 2.png
check the Consolidate files box and - if it is not greyed out - the Reorganize files ... box, then click OK.
    2. Exit iTunes, and then copy the complete C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes folder from your old computer to an external drive (flash drive is fine for a very small library)
      • In Windows XP (still on the old machine), click Start and select My Music:
        xp start menu.jpg
      • A window should open showing the folders contained in My Music, one of which should be the iTunes folder:
        XP copy 2.jpg
      • Right-click on the iTunes folder, and select Copy:
        XP copy 3.jpg
      • Now insert your flash drive, click on My Computer (under Other Places if your screen layout is as shown above, via the Start menu if not), and double-click on the entry for the flash drive:XP copy 4.jpg
      • When the window for the flash drive opens, right-click and select Paste:
        XP copy 5.jpg
      • When the copy operation has finished, eject the flash drive from the XP machine and connect it to the Windows 8 machine.

    ... to be continued ...

    ... continued ...

STEPS BELOW ARE ON THE NEW COMPUTER

    3. If you've already installed iTunes on the new computer, and you've added any new music there, then on the new computer make sure iTunes is not running and move the C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media folder to your desktop

    • We're in Windows 8 now, so the user interface and folder layout is a little different ...
    • On the Windows 8 Start screen (the one with all the tiles), find and click on the tile labeled File Explorer:metro.png.jpg
    • When the Explorer window opens:
      (1) - click on Music
      (2) - right-click on the iTunes folder and select Cut
      (3) - click on Desktop, then right-click and select Paste:
      Win 8 Explorer.jpg

    4. Copy the iTunes folder from the external drive to C:\Users\username\Music on the new computer so that the content is all in C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes

    • Still in File Explorer:
      (1) - click on the entry for the flash drive under My PC
      (2) - right-click on the iTunes folder
      (3) - select Copy:
      Win 8 Explorer 2.jpg
    • ... and then paste this into your Music folder:
      (1) - select Music again
      (2) - right-click in the window and select Paste:
      Win 8 Explorer 3.jpg
    • The iTunes folder will now be copied to your new machine

    5. Now start iTunes on the new computer - your complete library, as it was on the old one, should now be available to you

    6. Make sure that you have these two settings checked in Edit > Preferences > Advanced:
    Advanced Preferences checkboxes.jpg

    7. If you had any new music on the new PC, and copied it to the desktop in step 3, then in iTunes select File > Add Folder to Library...:

Win 8 iTunes Add Folder 1.jpg

         then:
              (1) - select Desktop and double-click on the iTunes folder
              (2) - select the iTunes Media folder
              (3) - click Select Folder.
Win 8 iTunes Add Folder 2.jpg

Once any music has been added to your new library, you can delete the iTunes Media folder on your desktop.

If you no longer plan to use iTunes on the old (Win XP) computer, you should run iTunes one last time and select Store > Deauthorize This Computer...

It may look complicated but it really isn't ... probably takes less time to do than it does to read the instructions!
