Mar 20, 2015 6:10 PM in response to peatfromormondby léonie,What exactly happens, when you try to launch iPhoto?
Do you get any error messages?
This has only happened in the last week.
What changed between last week and now? Did you install or upgrade software? Move the iPhoto Library to a different drive? Import new photos?
I have tried everthing suggested on the forum.
What exactly have you tried? If we don't know, what you tried, we don't know, what else to suggest.

Mar 22, 2015 4:42 AM in response to léonieby peatfromormond,Sorry......from what I can see on the internet regarding iPhoto, the answers seem to be the same.
I have started iPhoto while holding the option and command keys and then going through the various repair and rebuild options....none work.
I have down loaded iPhoto library manager...that does not work
I can see my iPhoto Library on my hard drive and it is about 14gb in size but when I open iPhoto and select the library it will not recognise it.
I have down loaded the latest iPhoto about a week ago and the library worked for about 2 days and then stopped.

What exactly did you do with iPhoto Library Manager, apart from download it? Were there any error messages?

Mar 22, 2015 6:14 AM in response to peatfromormondby Cloister9,I am having similar problems, which began when I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.2. I am running iPhoto 9.6.1
and when I try to initiate it, I get the message "To open your library with this version of iPhoto, it first needs
to be prepared". The preparation is downloading and installing the iPhoto librasry updater which I did
numerous times all to no avail. iPhoto will not load.

Mar 22, 2015 6:21 AM in response to Cloister9by LarryHN,You need to Install and RUN the library upgrader - go to your applications folder ==> utilities and double click on the iPhoto library upgrader to RUN it then launch iPhoto to complete theupgrade

Photos for MacDid you follow these directions?
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.>Click on the Add Library button,
2 - select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
3 - make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked.
4 - now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
5 - in the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed. Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2: Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
