camera icon on clips--can't re-import

Hi, smarties,

All my recent clips are showing with the video camera icon. Reimport is greyed out.

FCP let me edit the whole project without complaint, and I didn't notice the icons until I went to export--also greyed out.

Files are all usb card.

Since the project is edited, I'm hoping there's someway to move these files to where they need to be! Any advice?

Thanks.

--And just to be clear, I'm not seeing the RED "no media" clips. I'm seeing my video clips, which operate just fine (and which I was able to edit in the timeline), they just have the camera icon on top.

Thanks for helping my out, guys.

Sorry I wasn't more clear.

The clips are coming in from a USB card, via the Mac's built-in card reader (no camera attached).

  • (If I remove the card, the clips turn to red, missing file clips).
  • The clips are all on the card, and all showing in FCP (as long as the card is inserted), but with the video camera icon
  • FCP crashed shortly after my initial import--but:
  • I was able to continue editing (I didn’t even notice the camera icons)
  • The message I get hovering over the camera icon:

User uploaded file

BUT--when I try to reimport, that option is unavailable:

User uploaded file

End result: I've got my project edited, but I can't export it.

Thanks again. Any advice?

Not sure what you mean. That the camera is connected by USB to the Mac? A USB card reader?

Perhaps the clip import process was interrupted. That sometimes happens when FCP is still optimizing media and the process is interrupted. If your camera is connected, and you open Background Tasks (Command-9), is there any activity?

Do you have the project selected or the library? Should be the project.

If you do in fact have the project selected, then my assumption is the crash corrupted the library data base. In which case, with the application closed,I would move the flexolibrary file to the trash. Reopen Final Cut and see whether it will let you reimport.

Yes, event selected--but reimport still unavailable.

Did try trashing flexolibrary and restart--no change.

Update: tried doing a new import from the usb card, and even that clip is showing the camera icon!

I feel like I must have a setting wrong somewhere... I've done many other projects with the same usb card method, and never had this problem...

Any suggestions are welcome!
