Bad TV filter makes video disappear.

Started using Motion 5 and altho most filters work, when I apply the Bad TV filter it makes the video disappear (screen goes black). I simply imported a single video clip, selected the group in the Layers window and tried applying various filters. They all worked instantly except for Bad TV, Add Noise and Bad Film. Interestingly, those 3 filters (the first 3 in the Stylize Library) have no sample thumbnail vids. "Download additional content" is greyed out. Any ideas? Thanks!
