bootcamp running win7. Win 7 has detected the device but the Broadcomm software package stalls.

I have a Macbook pro Retina with a win 7 Bootcamp partition. I have recently purchased a Broadcomm VOCA speaker. The speaker works fine running from the OSX partition running Yosemite, but when windows detected the device it asked for new drivers. I was directed to the Broadcomm site where I downloaded the software suite, but when I tried to install the drivers the software stalled at the detect bluetooth device stage, and asked for the bluetooth device to be turned on, but of course it already was. I have done a little research and have found that other people have had a similar problem with different laptops, but these solutions are not applicable to my machine. Are there any ideas as to what I can do to resolve this problem.

You have two options...

Easy Option - Unpair the speaker and remove it from the OS X side, switch to Windows, run the Broadcomm installer and power on/pair the speaker. Switch to OS X and pair it again to OS X.

Hard Option - BT has link keys. Each OS has its own. You need to match the link keys across the two OSEes.

Thank you for replying, unfortunately the easy solution did not work, the hard option to me is O.K. if you understand computers a great deal more than I do. So unfortunately the problem remains.

Hi, no I have not tried it because I am not happy that I fully understand the method, and I could get into a complete mess. So at the moment I am downloading the win support software, and propose to reinstall it to see if this will work.

Well I tried that and no change I'm afraid so it looks like I will have to try the link key method. Now I understand that I have to reverse the data in pairs from the OS X to Windows system, but am uncertain where to get the data from in OSX, and equally where to put the data in the Windows registry. If you can help further I would appreciate it.

Step 8 in the linked article wants to read blued.list. Here is what I get on my Mac which is paired to a LG MSB100 BT speaker/handset/headset.

The first string after LinkKeys is the BT Radio on your Mac, the second is the address of your paired device. The highlighted part is the link key you need.

If you have multiple devices, pair them to your Mac on the OS X side and look in About This Mac -> System Report -> Bluetooth and you should see a display similar to the following. As you can see the Addresses match between the two parts.

Unfortunately I still have a problem, namely that I cannot install the drivers as the broadcom software stalls at Detect Bluetooth Device. So no Unique ID is made in Win 7 for me to edit. I will now contact Broadcom etc to see if the can supply drivers to install. Thanks for all your help, as long as I can get the drivers required it should be straight forward.

If your original Windows installation did not install BT drivers correctly, it may be asking for drivers. As a test, download drivers appropriate for your model from System requirements to install Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp - Apple Support and Boot Camp: Install or repair Boot Camp drivers. Once you have these in place, try to pair the device, without installing any additional drivers.

Windows see's the device, but will not install any drivers. I have been doing a little research and have found that the device I am trying to use 'Pure Voca' speakers are not compatible with win 7. There was no mention of compatibility on the data that came with the speaker so I assumed that all would be OK.

I have been in touch with the vendor, and they have offered to change for a win 7 compatible device, so I am checking out availability. Thank you very much for all the help and your interest in helping me.

I think the device is fine, its just that it is not compatible with win 7. Works fine on win 8 and OS X. It's a pity but not very important, I can play music through other devices so I will live with it.
