Using iMac as monitor and PC itself

Now I've done my research on this inquiry for quite a bit, and I feel left out on most answers.

Some are saying yes, others are saying no, others don't go in-depth enough.

Even support pages on Apple's Q&A aren't explaining it well enough.

In most occasions it comes over as confusing too.

Now the solution I've come up with would be to get thunderbolt adapter.

At least that's what I've been able to take out of all the other inquiries.

I'd get this for my computer and would this solve the issue of using it as a display?

I'd still use it as a PC of course, but it would be nice to have the dual functionality.

Also still expending in the rest of Apple's universe when the time comes.

Hello Vinzaye,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

The only supported way to use an iMac as an external display is to use it in Target Display Mode, which requires another Mac to use it with. To learn more about how to use Target Display Mode, see the article linked to below.
