Q: My iPhone 5 stopped working

while i'm using my iPhone 5 the screen turned black but the phone was still working i could hear the sound when i lock the screen, i pressed the home and lock button to restart it but it just died and didn't turn on anymore and when i put it on the charger the phone over heated that i couldn't even handle it in my hands.
