To start troubleshooting this issue where your Mac is shutting down during the boot process, I'd like you to please follow the steps in the article below starting with booting in to Safe Mode.
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck - Apple Support
Have a good one,

Apr 7, 2015 3:42 PM in response to alex_h1by realchubster,So I can't boot into safe mode. I tried to use disk utility to repair my disk, but it is apparently too far gone to repair. I tried to then reinstall but I have no disks available, I assume since the repair failed. What do you suggest? Also if you have any ideas please do share because I really need to use this tomorrow.

Apr 7, 2015 3:51 PM in response to realchubsterby my ginger,Did you get into recovery and run disk repair and it came back as not able to repair? If you can use recovery then you can erase the disk. The indented boot volume not the entire drive. Then using an ethernet connection go back to the reinstall and reinstall the operating system. This will take you to internet recovery and you will be asked for your apple id. If this will not work you could have a failed hard drive.

Apr 7, 2015 8:41 PM in response to realchubsterby my ginger,When you boot to recovery and then go to disk utilities, you should see two disks. The first one is the drive. Named whatever brand of drive you have installed. The second one, which should say mac or whatever you named it. That is the boot volume. That is the only one to erase. It should already have one partition. Erase it by using the option to write zero's. This will take a little while. Make sure it is set for mac os extended journaled. After you erase it, if all goes well. Close out of disk utilities and go to restore. Click on it and follow the instructions and reinstall the operating system. I would use an ethernet connection as the download will be smoother and faster. The reason to write zero's when erasing is to remap the drive in case there are any bad sectors. In erase you are given an option to click on to do this.
