Messaging

For a contact of mine why are the imessage/ text messages sending in different conversations within my text messages if it is the same contact with both their email and number are both under contact info ? How do I fix this so the imessages && text messages appaear in the same conversation ? This happened once before and after about 3 months just manually fixed it self some how someone help asap this is annoying
