Partial screen in safari

Safari is now taking up only two thirds of the screen. To the left is a large blank space. It's not the sidebar, which comes and goes when I click the show/hide icon as usual. Any suggestions?

Hello, Centime.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

I understand that you are experiencing an issue with Safari on your iPad. Try forcing all open applications to close and restart the device. Once this is done, test to see if this behavior persists.

Force an app to close in iOS

Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the issue persists, try clearing all Safari website data via the steps below.

Clear information from your device

To clear your history and cookies from Safari in iOS 8, tap Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data. In iOS 7 or earlier, tap Clear History and tap Clear Cookies and Data.

To clear other stored information from Safari, tap Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data > Remove All Website Data.

To visit sites without leaving a history, turn on private browsing.
