How to stop page from sliding off right side of window???

I haven't had this problem before but I think my pad is a little sticky and it is very annoying now. When I am on a page, I must be keeping my left finger on the trackpad and then scrolling "slightly" with the other hand because my page keeps going off the right side of the page and is gone and I have to start all over. This is especially annoying when playing games and all of a sudden my game is gone off the page, flowing off the right side of my window. Is there a setting where I can stop this from happening so my page will never disappear if pulled to the right? Please, this is so annoying...any help is appreciated. My trackpad also seems to be much harder to manipulate now on my Macbook pro. Like I have to press extra hard to select and when scrolling on the scroll bars on the right it often doesn't grab and grabs for a bit and then lets go and I have to regrab it...any ideas on that also? Thanks so much!

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Open System Preferences and click on the Trackpad tab. Look along the top for More Gestures. There are two gestures that allow you to slide from document to document (Pages) or from one fullscreen program or desktop to another. Try turning those off or to use 3 or 4 fingers. That’s the only thing I can think of that would cause the page to slide off. The clicking issue sounds like hardware. My trackpad click needed adjustment and until I could get it to the store I used tap to click. These days I use tap more than I do a physical click.

In your EtreCheck post the one thing that stands out is Genio adware. Here’s a site I trust with information on how to delete this malware.

For instance when I was going to this page, my screen got pulled off the right of the page and I was left with a gray screen with black square lines and had to pull it back left. Usually it just makes the page go away off the right of the screen and it's gone and can't retrieve it back...is there a preference or setting to stop this action? Also seems like it is hard to push down on trackpad and grab - always lets go - can I clean this myself at all? Here are the specifics:

MacBook Pro

15-inch, Mid 2009

Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB

Software OS X 10.9.5 (13F1066)

I really can’t tell from your description whether you are talking about a hardware or software problem. So restart the computer in safe mode - restart and hold the shift key until the Apple icon appears. The computer will take longer to restart than normal and this is to be expected. Since Safe Mode loads the minimum drivers needed, if your problem is software related it should disappear. You can go online and see if the trackpad still acts strange. If is seems okay, download and run EtreCheck and then paste the results here so we can see what things you are running. If the problem persists it is hardware related. The trackpad is mounted with several screws which can be adjusted to provide the right tension and that could be all it takes for the Mac Genius to fix it.

To anyone that may have been having a problem with the trackpad pressing down really hard - Took my laptop in and found out it was my battery and not the trackpad at all. My battery was "bulging" and causing me problems with pressing down on it. Put in a new battery and in 10 minutes the issue was resolved. It was not a trackpad issue at all, but rather a battery issue.
