    Not enough info. Because iMacs have been made without interruption since 1998 in literally hundreds of variants, we need to know more about your Mac before we can even think about helping. People have received bad advice here when they failed to narrow down their iMac model.

     

    At a Minimum, please do "About this Mac" from your Apple menu and tell us what that says for your Mac OSX version and your processor type.
