How do I move a Library off my computer on to an external hard drive please?

My Laptop is about to crash as the hard drive only has 1 GB of space left. I want to move all the photos in Aperture on to an external hard drive as one library, not individual projects. How please?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), 15 inch Retina

Make sure, that your external drive is correctly formatted for using it with Aperture. The file system needs to be MacOS Extended (Journaled).

See this link: Use locally mounted Mac OS X Extended volumes for your Aperture library

Then simply drag the Aperture library from your Pictures folder to a folder on your external drive.

Then double-click it to open the library in aperture and test, if it work.

Now you can delete the Aperture library on the internal drive.

Try to delete other files and to empty the trash before you try to move the Aperture library. Only 1 GB of working space is critically low.
