Itunes and importing MP4 files into library problems

At a guess the one that will not add the missing files is running the full 64-bit version of iTunes but needs the assistance of QuickTime to work with said files. You may find that installing iTunes for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards) and QuickTime resolves things for you.

I have the newest version of Itunes. 12.3.0.44 I can't add movies from my hard drive to itunes to watch on my Apple TV, any suggestions? I have a pC and am running windows 10

Typically video files added to iTunes are added to the Home Videos section rather than Movies. Have you checked for them there? Are they in an iTunes compatible format?

I have, I usually drag them from my HD to my itunes which puts them in my home video area. I acn not do that anymore (for some unknown reason). I just get the circle with a bar through it. I have done this many times, it doesn't work anymore though.

Try placing a single video file in the Automatically Add to iTunes folder to see if it is accepted or moved to the Not Added folder. Assuming it is not added try installing iTunes for Windows 12.3 (64-bit — for older video cards) and QuickTime to see if that changes the outcome.

Where is the auto-add folder? Shouldn't drag and drop work? Also would quick time update or installation help this?

Inside your media folder is another called Automatically Add to iTunes. Drag and drop should work, but if you're getting the rejected symbol there must be some reason why it isn't. It's worth trying a different approach. If the reason that files are rejected is that your video card needs some additional software support to play your videos then QuickTime is the support it needs.

If your library is in the standard location it will be <Users Music>\iTunes\iTunes Media\Automatically Add to iTunes.

I downloaded quick time, it still doesnt allow me to add any movies into itunes, this is driving me insane

Did you also switch to iTunes 12.3 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards)? This is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit core application, similar to all 64-bit releases of iTunes up until 12.1. You need the 32-bit core to integrate with QuickTime, assuming that is what the issue is. Do you have other movies still in your library that were imported in the same way before, and if so do they play?

I did, but now for some reason they arent there. I am so lost and so upset at this point, i dont know what to do. WHat do you suggest kind sir
