restore from backup without disc

I restored my system to an older backup because of a suspected virus. I realized too late that this backup has OSX 10.5 rather than the more recent one I had. The newer update was done by my college, so I don't have the installer disc. How do I restore to a newer backup without this disc while using OSX 10.5?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

What type of backup do you have - Time Machine or something else?

What OS were you running?

I'm afraid that without the install disks you are breaking the licence agreement that Apple put on OS X - you need to purchase a copy of the OS so that you own it. Time Machine will need the OS installing before restoring the newer OS, other backups that are full clones can be restored without the installer disks, but it is still a bad idea to use an OS without the install disks.
