How to scroll to top of Mail messages?

When I go into the mail program, the list of messages is never on the newest one. So I have to scroll for a long time before I can finally reach the newest message at the top of the list.

Is there some way to start on the newest message or jump to the top (like you can in Safari)?

This has been bugging me for a while. On the iphone you need to touch the top right of the screen above the 'Edit' or where the battery indicator is. 😉
