I have an iPod Nano 3rd generation.
If I connect it with USB port to my pc, my iPod is recognised and if I open iTunes I can explore it, add or delete files, synchronise it and play music.
When I disconnect from pc, iPod turns off and it's impossibile to power on.
I restored it and I tried to use buttons combinations (MENU+center or Menu+Play or Center+Play, etc...) but the problem remains.
Someone can help me?

I'm sorry Brett but I think that you don't read what I've written and you gave random and generic (and useless) answers.

Seems like Brett is a bot (or a person trying to be a bot). I think your ipod may need to be replaced. It's a 3rd gen so I'm assuming it's pretty old. It may be a battery problem, but I suggest that you go to a physical human Apple specialist to have it checked out.
When my iPod nano 3rd generation screen turned off, I was kind of disappointed. I tried connecting to iTunes, it would disconnect all the time. It might have a hard drive failure.
