Volume drops on iPad Air

the volume drops while watching video. The volume indicator shows the volume turned all the way up, but it sounds like it's almost off. As video plays the sound will go up again, but not as loud as when it first started. This happens with all video, but mostly with YouTube.

Do I need to send my iPad in for repair? is this covered under warranty?

I found this elsewhere on interweb and it seems like a plausible theory to me.

My guess which I haven't investigated is something to do with "getting" a notification that you have turned off in Notification Center. E.g. if you get emails in the mail app and have badges enabled but not banners/notifications, and it's configured for "push", then when Mail receives a new email it triggers the "got mail" sound, which lowers all volumes (for the sake of you properly hearing the alert) but does not play a sound on top. I will do more investigating but that is my best guess.
