Problem with number of photos in iTunes/iPhone

Hi!

Whenever I connect my iPhone to my MacPro, the bar below in the iTunes summary displays that I have 1593 photos (2,36Gb). I only have around 200 photos in my Camera roll. I already reseted the iPhone and Mac, deleted photos from whatsapp or other apps, and deleted old backups from iTunes/iCould. Still don’t know where these 1593 photos come from or how to remove them for good.

Thanks in advance for your help!

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.2, null

Good day MarBCN,

If you are having an issue with photos showing they are taking up space but not being present, the next thing to do would be to reinstall the iOS operating system. Follow the directions in this article -

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support

In particular -

  1. Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
  2. Put your device in recovery mode.
  3. When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

Same problem here, MarBCN. iPhone 4s running latest OS, says 40 photos and 1 video. iTunes says 153 photos using 3.31 GB. I went through the process suggested by Brett L but nothing changed. Then clicked latest link suggested by Brett and just got a 'What can we help you with' page - nothing about GetproductgroupList.action.

If you resolve this, I hope you post it here.

Thanks, and good luck with it,

Graham

Hello Graham,

I finally resolved the problem. I erased my iPhone and restored as new from iCloud, I did this twice and nothing changed. Then I backed up in iTunes, erased and reseted the iPhone, and then restored it from iTunes. This third time, after syncing it from iTunes, it showed the real 200 photos and 0 videos occupying just 500mb of space as it was on the device.

Hope I could help and you can solve it too!
