No, iTunes, I don't have over 3000 photos... Help?

Hello,

First of all, I know this issue's been brought up before but I couldn't find a solution to my problem, so I created an account on here to ask again.

My iTunes says I have 3214 photos on my 16gb iPhone 5s taking up 5.31gb.

In reality, I believe I only have 551 photos and 10 short videos.

I have updated the software to its latest version (8.2.0), do not use cloud sharing etc. etc. and nothing seems to be working.

Any ideas? It's ridiculous that a few hundred photos is being read as thousands and rendering the device half useless!

Thanks all

P.S I know this is probably in the wrong forum but it wouldn't allow me to post to the support forum for some reason...

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.2

Hi KieranJSY,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that there is a discrepancy between your iPhone and iTunes as far as the amount of photos you have and the storage space they consume. There are some troubleshooting steps that I would recommend in this situation.

First, I would recommend backing up your iPhone to either iCloud or iTunes for safety.

Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support

After your iPhone has been backed up, I would recommend using the instructions located in the attached article to place your iPhone in recovery mode and perform an update. This step will completely reinstall the iPhone Operating System without erasing your data.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support

  1. Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
  2. Put your device in recovery mode.
  3. When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

Best regards,

Joe
