Mar 22, 2015 8:10 PM in response to flkrakrmom2935by babowa,I am using Mac OS 10.5.5 My iPhoto is version 9.5.1
Can you check and post back which Mac OS you are using? 10.5.5 was Leopard several years ago and a recent version of iPhoto would not work on it.
Did you update the OS recently?

Mar 23, 2015 10:33 AM in response to flkrakrmom2935by LarryHN,Did you mean OS X 10.9.5? iPhoto 9.5.1 will not operate at all on OS X 10.5.5
If the rebuild did not help then the most likely cause is suer action - either deleting the originals form the iphoto library or using Cleanup software like CleanMyMac2 or MacKeeper - do NOT - the Mac does not need cleaning up - it takes care of that it's self - and cleanup programs often damage libraries giving the symptoms you are seeing
If you have done these then the only solution is to restore the backup fro before the originals were deleted
