iPhoto Library Manager

I have approx. 60,000 pictures in iPhoto. I suspect that this is the reason why it hangs so often - if not are there any other suggestions?

I have read about the possibility of using a program like iPhoto Manager to 'split' the library so that my Mac doesn't always have to search the entire library.

Has anyone else done this? Is it straightforward?

Do people recommend iPhoto Manager or are there any alternative suggestions?

Apple is releasing a new Photos application with Mac OS 10.10.3, which has been built from the ground up to help you keep your growing library organized and accessible. If you'd like to try it now, you can enroll in the beta.

There's one thing I noticed:

Time since boot: 12 days 1:44:37

I suggest you reboot every couple of days to clear caches and temp files. An occasional boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, will clear additional system caches and run repair routines. It's not needed often but certainly can't hurt.

You definitely have a memory problem as indicated by the size of the Page-outs. The ordered memory upgrade should correct that and it might have a strong influence on your iPhoto Library slowness.

I know I've had issues with the Adobe ARM software for keeping track of updates, etc. I've remove them from my user launch agents and you might try the same:

User Launch Agents: ℹ️

[loaded] com.adobe.ARM.[...].plist [Click for support]

[failed] com.adobe.ARM.[...].plist [Click for support]

I don't use anything that continually checks back with the mother ship for updates, info, etc.

Thanks Old Toad,

Can you step me through what I would need to do for this please.

Thanks
