POP Peeper is an email notifier that runs in your Windows task bar and alerts you when you have new mail
What version of OSX are you running?
Later versions have a Notifications option in System preferences.

it will be the latest version Yosemite 10.10 i believe [ i just ordered the mac mini 2 days ago]
Yosemite has a Notification center. You can have new mail messages pop up an alert that then then goes away after a short time or have it stay on the screen until you dismiss it. For more info see:
