Missing Downloaded Libary - iPod Classic

I recently purchased new PC operating with Windows 8.1.


After downloading iTunes, I synched my iPod - of the 1700+ songs in my library, the only music visible on iTunes is music I purchased through iTunes (less than 250).


All songs appear on the iPod, but not in ITunes or any other connected device.


How can I recoup the rest of my downloaded music?

Songs on an iPod that were not purchased through the iTunes Store can not be transferred from that iPod to another computer. See this article for reference -
