Siri HandsFree iOS 8.2

This might have started before the latest update to 8.2, but now when I am in my car and I press the Siri Handsfree button on my car radio, Siri tell me that I have to unlock the phone before the command can be executed, for example Read Messages. Kind of defeats the whole hands free purpose. It did not work this way before. Once my phone was unlocked after initial power on, Siri would execute the command. Is this a new glitch?

I have an iPhone 6 running 8.2.

iPhone 6, iOS 8.1.2

Go into settings touch id and passcode and turn Siri on under allow access when locked

Thanks, but my settings were correct. I set it to off and then to on again and tried it this morning but it still says that I need to unlock the phone to listen to a text message.

OOk well for siri to read a message she needs to open the app which you cant do when it's locked, because some stranger then would be able to get Siri to read all your personal messages

Settings > Touch ID & Passcode > Siri [under "Allow Access when Locked] = "on"

UPDATE: Since you say you've done this, reset your iPhone. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.

It used to work before the latest updates. If I have to unlock the phone and open the app while driving,then Siri handsfree is useless. I might as then just break the law and text while driving, which I am not about to do. Something is wrong with the update.
