Why does iMessage on my iPad not accept my network connection?

When I try to sign in to iMessage using my apple ID password I get a message that says "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." The iPad knows it is connected to my wifi network. What can I do? It had been working previously.

Hi joegez,

If you are having issues with activating iMessage on your iPad, then take a look at the article below. You will want to check the settings on your iPad like Date & Time as well as the Wi-Fi settings. If after about an hour you are still stuck then you will need to contact Apple to get to the bottom of it.
