I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. If iTunes has quit/won't launch, and/or you are having issues uninstalling and reinstalling it, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following articles helpful:

Mar 26, 2015 2:06 PM in response to brenden dvby Dgschunk,Thank you. But as it turns out the issue was not with iTunes. My battery backup was connected by USB cable to my computer. The battery backup unit was going bad, and started to interfere with several programs on my computer. When I disconnected the cable, everything began working normally again.
