Restore to factory settings

Hi,

I want to restore my MacBook (Late 2009) running Mavericks to factory settings, reinstall the OS and update to Yosemite. Can I do this without the CD's that came with the MacBook? It was bought with Leopard or Snow Leopard.

Thanks in advance!

Good day Schneipi,

In order to erase and restore the original operating system to your MacBook you will need an install DVD such as the one that came with the computer. A MacBook (Late 2009) would have come with Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) disk. See this article -
