PNY Quadro K5000 Mac Edition - Audio Problems via DP/HDMI adapter

Hello,

as stated in the topic I have some troubles to get the sound working on my TV witch is plugged into the Mac Pro via HDMI/DP adapter.

Setup:

Mac Pro 5.1 with OSX 10.9.5

Graphics PNY Quadro K5000 Mac Edition

My Question ist this: Ist there a Problem with the OSX, the Card or the Adapter?

The Macs Internal sound works fine. The TV plugged into a Laptop via HDMI works too.

If anyone has a similar Setup or a clue whats going on, I would very much apriciate some help.

What sounds outputs are available in System Preferences>Sounds> Output?

Are you using Apple drives or Nvidia's drivers?

In the System Preferences are available:

internal Speakers

Line-Out

Digital Output

an I am using the Nvidia CUDA drivers 7.0.29

Do you have anything plugged into the headphone jack? If so unplug it.

Next try resetting the SMC anf VRAM

I have nothing plugged into the headphone jack.

I have done the SMC and VRAM reset but it seems to have changed nothing.

Try plugging something in the headphone jack a couple of times. That out, both heahphones and optical should not be listed unless something is plugged in.

I plugged in the headphones in the front and they work perfectly. I replugged it in a couple of times, but nothing changed.

I just noticed that the red light of my Audio out at the back is on.. But nothing was ever plugged in there

What I would do would be to install Yosemite on another drive and see if it works

Could it be that the card does not support HDMI sound? Could it be that i need an active display port to hdmi adapter?

I do not have the card. It should support audio out via mDP since that started with a MacPro5.1. Previous Mac Pros did not support audio over mDP.

What should not show is headphone and digital out with nothing connected to that port.

Same port but only size is different so DP behaves same as mDP. As I said you should not be seeing sound-out option for headphones and digital with noting connected to the port. Something is cause that problem.

In short:

Apple supplies the sound drivers... not.

Nvidia produces the chips and the graphics drivers, but sound drivers are owned by apple. Thats what i have been told by PNY and Nvidia.

Why is this card sold at the apple store, but apple doesnt supply buyers with a driver? Idk.

And btw. the card works perfectly under bootcamp, with sound!
