dropped my phone in a puddle!

Today I dropped my iPhone 5s in a puddle. It couldn't have been in the puddle for more than 2 seconds, I picked it up very quickly. Everything was working fine, so I decided to call my friend to see if it worked. I could make the call, but the little speaker where you hear when you make a call was very quiet and I could hardly hear anything out of it. I ran to the grocery store and bought a bag of calrose rice and put it in there. I plan on keeping it in there for 48 hours because that is what I read online. After 48 hours, will the rice have soaked up all of the water and will I be able to hear out of my phone again when I make calls???
