I have used a My Passport on my mac before, but I have not backed up in a while. I went to back up and Time Machine told me that there is not enough space. So I deleted what was on my My Passport (through trash), and then went to backup. Time Machine still says there is no space on my hard drive, but I see no files. Help!?

Deleting the files can still leave a container.. try actual format of the drive .. that will return all space to being usable.. you do not need to do more than quick format.
Yosemite can have issues recognising the drive as correct size.. what does it show up as in drive utility??
I assume that the My Passport is a USB drive, correct?
Try Erase the drive using Disk Utility on your Mac, making sure that the format is Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
