App store will not update to Safari 8.0.4

There is a new update available for Safari, but when I attempt to install it on my MBP App Store tells me it is installed, but it just sits there as an update which is still available to update to. When Safari is open, I get a prompt that I have to close Safari to install the update, so I do that and the update says it's installed but then it still shows up in my available updates queue.

I've checked my version of Safari under "About Safari" and it still shows as 8.0.3.

I wouldn't bother asking about this, but it is a security update and I want to keep my browser up-to-date.

Has anyone else experienced this or a similar problem?

Thanks.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Back up all data before proceeding.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

/var/folders/zz

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select

Services Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select

Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
