Apple TV rentals slow or no playback

Experiencing specific problems playing rented content on Apple TV

• 2nd Gen Apple TV

• Updated to current

• Restarted Apple TV

• Restarted modem and router

• Netflix playing like a champ on Apple TV

• All other content playing in HD with no problems on Apple TV (YouTube, Crackle, HBO-Go)

• Rented content on Apple TV either plays then stops, then hangs over and over, or doesn't play at all.

• Also, rented content was expensive (a season of Walking Dead) 😟

Can anybody offer advice?

This will be due to the network. Netflix and others adapt the connection. ITunes is at a fixed rate and higher quality, it needs to load a portion before playback begins.

What is the current connection via speedtest.net

Make sure DNS is set to auto (settings - general - network)

If on wifi try ethernet

Tv shows are not available for rent, only purchase, and the prices are set by the provider

Thanks for your response, vazandrew.

• Current connection speed is 13+mbps

• DNS is set on Apple TV to Automatic

• Using wifi because I can't reach router to TV via ethernet

• I completed the Apple speed test to submit data to Apple

Not sure what else to do to fix. I've tried pausing the stream to allow time to load, but I get same results.

(Also, I didn't mean that Apple charged too much for the content. I wasn't very clear. I just meant that I paid a decent amount for the content but couldn't stream it, while other content provided by others streams perfectly.)

Do you have any other suggestions?
