Mar 25, 2015 4:22 AM in response to Nothapyby Russ H,This is hard because playback issues can be caused by a variety of things:including the physical media (which might be one defective disk, a batch, or just a sub-standard brand); or the DVD player; or an excessively high bit rate that the player can't easily read, or (less frequently) difficult content that the compression process had trouble encoding.
I would start by trying another player.
Since you did two separate burns, it's not a problem with a specific disk. But if switching players doesn't work, try a different brand – say, Verbatim, Maxell, or JVC Taiyo Uden.
If neither of the above works, then try a lower nit rate setting - say, 7.2 Mbs max, and perhaps put in a compression marker or two at the places in your movie where the playback freezes.
Let us know.
Russ
edit: Oh no…forgot to list the burner as a potential cause!

Mar 25, 2015 10:23 AM in response to Russ Hby Nothapy,I'm currently using maxwell disks. Any other recommendations for a brand of dvd-r? Oh and should it be r+ or r-?
I Think my burner is good as I have burnt good disks in the past but I'll look into that too.

Mar 25, 2015 3:15 PM in response to Russ Hby Nothapy,Tried it with Verbatim DVD-R disks. Still skips. Perhaps it's my Blu Ray/DVD burner?

Mar 25, 2015 3:51 PM in response to Russ Hby Nothapy,I lowered the bit rate setting to 7 and it still didn't skip. Getting a lot of coasters here. In the 15 years cd/dvd burners have been around- I've rarely been able to burn things right so perhaps it's just me! Or, perhaps it's my disk burner, going to burn a HD dvd and see if that works

Mar 26, 2015 9:14 AM in response to Russ Hby Nothapy,Burnt a blu Ray. Worked perfect. For some reason I can't burn DVD's without glitches.
