It will cost me a small fortune to replace the radio in my VW Golf so I'm hoping a wired portable speaker would work as an antenna for the radio.
If so, is there a compatibility issue or a suggestion as to what I should be looking for?

If your speaker can use an mini plug input you just need the cable and the speaker and it should work fine.

I'm just not sure if the cable will serve as an antenna. I've sent them an email but have yet to hear back from them.
The portion of the wire between the iPod and the first section of the Vibroy will serve as an antenna, no different than the cable between the Nano and a set of headphones. But that section of cable is very short, unlike most headphones, so it may affect how good your signal is.
I wondered about the length of wire. The information that I could find was vague and more related to hooking up the iPod Nano to in-house speakers. Nothing about being able to get FM radio.
I did some more looking around for a perhaps a better quality speaker. Bluetooth speakers seems to dominate my web searches but this basically answers my questions.
