Q: Mac Pro (Mid 2010) sees a blank when I insert a DVD.

I just created a DVD from some old home movies on a combination VCR/DVD Recorder.  When I insert it into my Mac Pro (Mid 2010), it says its a blank disk, yet when I insert the DVD back into the DVD Recorder, it plays it just fine.  Any idea why or what I can do to remedy the situation?  I'm running Yosemite with 32 GB, 2.8 GHz Quad-Core.

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), null

Sometimes optical drives have a hard time reqding disk burned in another optical drive (or recorder in your case?

Does the disk play in an optical drive other then the one that created it?

Does your drive play other DVDs?

Have you tried a cleaning disk?

The (JVC) VCR/DVD-R recorder that I have doesn't "close" the disc until the user chooses that function, and those non-closed discs won't play on a Mac. Could that be the problem? Check your manual for the VCR.
