Why does my iMac use data at 2am and 8pm everyday while I am not using it?

I use verizon for my internet provider and consistently have data usage around 8pm and 2am everyday when I am not on my computer...

Is there something I can turn "off" that is using this data?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

I understand that, those are not exact times but very close. I am using a lot of data with verizon (30gb) and there is only me on this one desktop iMac. I do not watch netflix, videos, etc. I check my email and surf yahoo in the mornings. I have talked with verizon and they say that something is using the data and that maybe something runs at those times around 2am and 8pm everyday. This iMac is my only wifi source being used. Is there something that I can turn "off" on the Mac that might be causing this?
