Missing audio in Safari

Hi. My issue is the following: I've just bought a new iMac, which works almost perfectly, but the neither the video clips in Safari nor the instruments in Garage Band have any sound.

iTunes has (i.e.: I can listen to my music normally).

I guess there must be an easy solution, but I'm not good enough to find it. Does anybody know where the problem is?

Thanks a lot.

Anita
