iOS doesn't run on Powerbooks.

A Mac isn't Powerbook that doesn't have the name Powerbook on the screen frame.

Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to find your operating system.

If you are running Mac OS X 10.7 or later on a MacBook Pro, then migrating to a new Mac is just a matter of a Thunderbolt Firewire adapter or a Thunderbolt ethernet adapter.

If you are running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, be sure to read this tip:

If you have a Powerbook or iBook, that opens a whole new can of worms which this tip discusses:

http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2295

If you used a PowerPC Mac (pre-dates early to mid-2006) at any point in the data you are migrating, you'll want to use the above tip.
