lost my Google Authenticator key

downloaded Google Authenticator and was prompted to scan the box...did not have phone connected to computer so I had to write in the key. But said it was the wrong key. checked forward and backwards again and key I wrote in was correct, but still a no go. Do I have to delete the app in both computer and iphone and start over.
