movie insert problem

So, I have a movie in my Keynote presentation. Then I throw it out from the presentation. I save the document. And then I regret myself, trying to insert the movie again. Only, this time, Keynote tells me: The Movie file couldn´t be inserted. I recognize this problem from earlier versions. Still isn´t solved!?

Any ideas/workarounds? Or maybe even a bug fix?

Kind regards/ Martin

I have never encountered or heard of an issue when replacing a video file.

Try resetting Keynote; perform all the steps in the order listed:

  1. remove Keynote version 6.5, you must use an application removal tool for this procedure to work: Appcleaner is free, I use Appzapper
  2. empty the trash
  3. shut Down the Mac (Apple menu > Shut Down)
  4. wait 10 seconds, then press the power button
  5. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key,
release the Shift key when you see the grey Apple screen
start up will take a few minutes longer than usual as the Mac is performing a software repair
  6. restart the Mac normally, (don’t hold down any keys during startup)
  7. install Keynote from the Mac App Store

Well Gary, Thank you so much! I did exactly what you suggested, and it seems like it works just fine now. I really provoked my Keynote presentation, by moving files, change the presentation file to a package and so on. Nothing seem to disturb Keynote this time. So what happened was some kind of cleaning out some old garbage in the code that made Keynote to "misbehave" I guess...

I´ll remember this procedure next time any of my programs are misbehaving...

Once again, Gary. Thank´s so much!
