iTunes Match 3G v 4G LTE

I have noticed that my cellular data used by iTunes Match varies greatly between 3G and 4G LTE. Does iTunes match recognise when I am on 4G and streams a better quality stream to my iPhone? I called Apple Support but they were not able to answer this.
