Bad connection Mac Mini to display

When I restart my two years old Mac Mini, the connection (Mini Display) to the Cinema Display (with a standard Mini Display plug, so no adapters) usually fails. Only after fumbling a lot wit the plug, I get a picture on the display.

A long shot but try resetting the SMC and PRAM

Can you try the monitor on another computer with a mini displayport out?

Illaass. I did reset the PRAM, to No avail. Now I'll try resetting the SMC. But your other suggestions are impossible to me. Nevertheless, thanks.
