Contacts not syncing if you add notes to them

i was wondering why some contacts are not syncing between my devices ( ipad 4 and iPhone 5 ) but I just realised if I add notes to contacts then the contact does not sync but if no notes it syncs ok.

Any help most appreciated.

On both your iPhone & iPad

Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calenders...Under contacts make sure that your default account on both devices is iCloud.

Also on both devices under settings, make sure Contacts is turned on under iCoud.

Thanks for replying.

I Have both devices set as you had said and went through the Apple suggested trouble shoot guide. Strange thing is names, numbers and email sync no problem it is just when I put a note in the contact none of the information is synced for that contact neither name number or email address which I cannot get my head around. I would understand if even the note side of the contact never synced but not the whole contact info.
